From a Corporate Climber to a Lady Boss: Why More Women Are Taking the Leap to Follow Their Hearts

The traditional career path of climbing the corporate ladder is being reshaped by inspiring women around the world who’ve taken the plunge to live a more meaningful life. Rather than spending long hours at a desk where you’re really just a number, women are choosing to follow their passion by becoming womenpreneurs.

Globally, women are taking the power back into their own hands by creating a career path for themselves, rather than following one that’s often unfulfilling and meaningless. Following your passion is a huge leap into the unknown, which is a risk many women are now prepared to take to turn their dreams into reality.

Let’s face it, the high paying salary, the status of a fancy job title and the stability that comes with working for a large organization are appealing. However, women often come to a place in their lives where the prestige and money aren’t worth all the personal sacrifices and long hours. They’re pulled in another direction by their heart’s desire, and eventually have the need to pursue a greater purpose in their lives.

While quitting your job and following your passion sounds great. The reality is that it’s a huge undertaking that many often don’t fully understand when they decide to make the change. Carrying the burden of creating a business from scratch should not be taken lightly. It takes a lot of blood, sweat and tears; it comes with many late nights, stressful moments and costly failures.

Why are women doing it?

The difference is that they’re driven by a deep desire that sits at the core of who they are. Following your passion is hugely rewarding and fulfilling, giving the everyday a deeper meaning that so many of us are searching for. When times get tough, you know that you’re working towards something that you wholeheartedly believe in.

Being your own boss also means that you make the rules when it comes to work/life balance. The corporate world doesn’t generally offer women the flexibility to prioritize personal and family commitments. Being a business owner means that you have the power when it comes to your schedule, and what’s most important to you.

Being a lady boss isn’t easy, but it’s absolutely worth it!
